Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 21, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how OneStudy ("OneStudy," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the OneStudy website, applications, and services (the "Service"). It works alongside our Terms of Service.

By using the Service, you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Information we collect

Account information. When you sign up, we create an account for you. You can sign in through Google or Apple, in which case we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from that provider.

Content you provide ("Your Content"). To create study materials, you give us inputs such as PDFs, slides, documents, notes, recordings, videos, images, and links. This also includes the study sets you generate, your chats with the AI tutor, and any messages you send us (for example through a contact form).

Usage data. We collect information about how you use the Service — features you use, study activity, and progress — to operate and improve the product.

Device and log data. Our servers and our hosting and CDN providers log basic technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, and timestamps, for security and reliability.

Payment information. Paid plans and credits are processed by Stripe. We do not store your card details; your payment information is handled by Stripe under its own privacy policy.

Cookies. We use a session cookie to keep you signed in and to keep the Service secure. See Section 6.

2. How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • provide and operate the Service, including generating flashcards, quizzes, tests, summaries, podcasts, read-aloud audio, and the AI tutor;
  • personalize your experience and track your study progress;
  • process payments, manage subscriptions and credits, and prevent fraud;
  • keep the Service secure, troubleshoot problems, and enforce our Terms;
  • respond to you and send account and service-related messages (and any updates you have opted into); and
  • comply with the law and protect the rights and safety of our users and others.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use Your Content to train AI models of our own.

3. AI processing of Your Content

To generate study materials, we send the relevant parts of Your Content to third-party AI providers that process it on our behalf. We send only what is needed to fulfill your request, under agreements that require these providers to process it to provide the Service and not for their own independent purposes.

4. How we share information

We share personal information only in these cases:

  • Service providers who help us operate the Service — such as hosting, storage, payment processing, email delivery, and AI processing — under confidentiality obligations.
  • Legal and safety — when we reasonably believe disclosure is required by law, or is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of OneStudy, our users, or the public.
  • Business transfers — if OneStudy is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

We do not sell your personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

5. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You can delete individual study sets or your entire account at any time from your settings, which removes the associated content. Some information may remain in encrypted backups for a limited time, and we may retain what we are required to keep to comply with the law, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements (for example, transaction records, which we may keep in anonymized form).

6. Cookies and tracking

We use essential cookies — primarily a session cookie that keeps you signed in and secures your account. We may use limited, privacy-respecting analytics to understand how the Service is used and improve it. We do not use cookies for third-party advertising, and we do not sell or "share" your information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

7. Your choices and rights

You can access, update, or delete much of your information directly in your account settings, including deleting study sets or your whole account. You can also contact us at support@onestudy.ai for help.

California (CCPA/CPRA). If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use and disclose it, to request access to or deletion of it, to correct inaccurate information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising your rights. Because we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, there is no need to opt out of those activities. You may submit a request by emailing us; we will verify your identity before responding.

To exercise any of these rights, email support@onestudy.ai.

8. Security

We use commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and at rest and access controls. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. International users

We operate the Service from the United States. If you use the Service from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States and other countries whose data-protection laws may differ from those where you live. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer.

10. Children's privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you are under 18, you may use the Service only with the consent and involvement of a parent or guardian, as described in our Terms. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Third-party services

The Service integrates with third parties such as Google and Apple (sign-in) and Stripe (payments), and our pages may load resources from third-party providers that can receive your IP address. Your use of those services is also governed by their own privacy policies. This Policy does not cover third-party websites or services we do not control.

12. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
